Most Frequently Asked Questions

What is the benefit of wearing raw copper?

Here are just a few benefits of wearing raw copper…

  • Copper is an essential trace mineral necessary for survival. Wearing raw copper jewelry provides the benefit of slow copper absorption through our skin! It has been claimed that headaches, arthritis, joint pain, and zinc deficiency can be effectively treated with the aid of copper jewelry.

  • Copper will react to acidic environments.  Specifically, your body's acidity is related to your diet. Junk food, processed food, and lots of red meat will make your body acidic; therefore, wearing raw copper jewelry can be an excellent gauge to determine if you need to reduce acidity and/or increase alkalinity levels.

Crystals are found in many colors and forms all over the world. They are defined by their structure and mineral content. All of our crystals are mined and naturally sourced. Crystals found in our pieces are hand selected to ensure authenticity and the best quality.

Where do the crystals come from?

Can my copper tarnish?

Yes, copper tarnish is caused by oxidation. As mentioned above, copper will react to acidic environments. This can speed up the oxidation process. Acidic environments can include sweat, oils, or your skin depending on your diet. Many people may prefer the look of oxidized copper; however, if you prefer a shinier look to your piece it is important to follow our copper cleaning recommendations.

How do I clean the copper in my jewelry?

Cleaning/polishing copper jewelry is as easy as finding an acidic item in the kitchen. Lemon juice, ketchup, vinegar + salt, etc...these are all excellent and natural ways to shine up your copper jewelry!

  • Simply place the piece of jewelry in a small bowl and cover with your choice of cleaner. Let it soak (no longer than 10 minutes). If necessary, use a soft toothbrush to reach into crevices on the jewelry. Use mild soap and water to wash the acidic cleaner off the jewelry and pat dry with a soft cloth. The piece of copper jewelry should regain its shine and look new again.

  • Please note: Any copper patina product (e.g. Mother Earth earrings) should not be cleaned. Patina is a beautiful layer formed on the surface of copper by natural oxidation. The cleaning steps above would strip this layer off and remove the finish.

For ease and convenience with cleaning your copper piece on the go, we are now including a polishing cloth with every copper (non-patina) order.

Can I clean the crystals in my jewelry?

Avoid using harsh chemicals found in many jewelry cleaners. Water and a soft bristle brush will clean the crystals just fine. Don’t forget that crystals love to recharge in mother nature! (ex. sunlight, moonlight, and spring water)

It could but responses vary depending on an individual’s body chemistry. This is not harmful for you or your jewelry and can be easily washed off with soap and water. Copper is an essential trace mineral necessary for survival. Wearing raw copper jewelry provides the benefit of slow copper absorption through our skin. This interaction could result in a green color on the skin especially if worn for long periods of time or if exposed to high levels of acidity (e.g. oils and sweat).

All of these effects can be minimized or prevented by introducing a barrier (e.g. sealant) between the copper and the skin. All of our copper rings, earrings, necklace pendants are sealed.
